What kind of place is it?
I live in a condominium village called LPN which is in Ramindhra which is in Northern part of Bangkok, about one-hour drive from Siam Square. It is a green and peaceful village in suburban area and it has got a really relaxed atmosphere and excellent amenities. About five hundred people live in this village.

What’s the most interesting part of your home area?
One of the most interesting features of my home area is the means of transport. Fortunately, it is near a convenient bus route, sky train and subway system so people do not have to commute to a far place to do their work. There is also a plan to extend the sky train to my home area in the future. It is also near Don Muang domestic airport. Another thing is I enjoy a sense of community here.

What kind of jobs do people in your town/village do?
Mostly inhabitants of this village are employees of government authorities but some of them are workers of private companies such as ABC Airways.

Would you say it is a good place to live? Why?
Totally, I would recommend anyone to live here. Apart from convenient means of transport, it is located near many department stores such as ....., as well as a fascinating historic town of Ayutthaya, the old capital city of Thailand 600 years ago. There are plenty of historic sites and temples in this province.

What do you do in your spare time? Hobbies and interests?

In my free time, I normally practice singing or sing karaoke with my family or friends at my home or some department stores. What I like about it is that it is really relaxing to spend time with beautiful melodies and lyrics and I can enjoy the entertaining music video as I sing.

When/How did you become interested?

My interests have started since I was ten years old when my mum sent me to join the singing course at school. I have loved singing since then because it is amusing and I can enjoy various genre of music.

How do you spend your holiday?

Mostly, I spend time with my family and relatives during holidays. We usually go to temple to make merits and have a lunch at the restaurant. During long vacation, especially new year holiday, I and my family sometimes went to foreign countries. For example, we went to Japan. This trip was so amazing as I went skiing and went to Tokyo Disneyland.

Is there any place you would like to visit? Why?

I have wished to visit several European countries for so long since I have never been to these countries. Specifically, I would like to visit France to go to Versailles Palace to appreciate prestigious ornaments, gardens, and architectures.

What should visitors in Thailand see and do?

Actually, there are a lot of spectacular places and entertaining activities awaiting foreigners to experience. I would recommend the visitors to first visit the Emerald Buddha Temple then they should experience Thai massaging. I’m sure they will be relaxed. Finally, they should enjoy dinner cruise along the riverside of Chao Praya River.

What kind of tourists visit Thailand?

I think most of them are backpackers who are young couples taking a leap year or a vacation. This type of tourist usually visits Pattaya beach to enjoy vibrant night life. Another type of tourist is business travelers who enjoy high-end services like Thai massaging and dinner cruise.

How has tourism changed?

Many aspects of tourism in Thailand have changed. First of all, the type of tourists has changed from ambassadors to backpackers and businessmen. In the old times, the visitors came to Thailand for diplomatic purposes but nowadays they came here for traveling. Another thing is, with technological advances, modes of transport have changed from ships to airplanes which take shorter time. In addition, the tickets are more affordable than in the old times.

What kind of food do you like?
I definitely like Thai food, especially the dishes with hot and sour tastes like ‘Tom Yum Koong’. It is very famous traditional Thai dish and it is a spicy, sour and creamy soup with fresh large king prawns which you can easily find in Thailand. Thai people usually eat it with rice. It usually came on the top of my most favorite dish. 

What are typical Thai foods?
Typically, Thai foods are dishes which are mostly soup with hot and sour tastes and a lot of herbs like lemongrass, ginger and lime. They are normally served with rice. Some Thai exotic and famous dishes are, for example, papaya salad, or so called ‘Som Tum’.

Is cooking a man’s or a woman’s job?
Stereotypically, it is a woman’s job to do housework like cooking and cleaning. However, nowadays as the world is more equal for both men and women, I think cooking can be shared by both genders and cooking is fun so the men may want to do it too.

How do you like foreign food?
I like foreign food as much as Thai food, particularly, Italian foods like parma ham pizza, carbonara spaghetti, and lazanya because they are delectable and so different from Thai dishes in ingredients and tastes. Mostly, cheese is the main ingredient that makes Italiand dishes salty and creamy and I love it!

How long have you been learning English?

I have learnt English for about twelve years because there are English subject and subjects conducted in English in my high school’s and university’s curriculum. I also try to improve my English continually by registering in courses of tutor schools such as Writing Course of Enconcept E-Academy.

What is easy/difficult?

I think English is a skill-based subject. This means it will be difficult at first to learn English skills like speaking and writing. However, after some practices and some time, I find that it is easier for me to write or speak in English. Personally, the easiest skill is listening but the most difficult one is writing.

What opportunities do you have to speak?

Actually, there are a lot of chances to speak in the class since all subjects in my undergraduate degree are conducted in English. Normally, in each subject, there is the time for group discussion on case study when I can practice speaking.
